Essential Reading is an American English, four-level course that builds on the latest research into good readers. It includes explicit vocabulary work and fluency development – each book comes with a complete short story taken from the Macmillan Readers series.
The conference is aimed at exploring the interface between the teaching of English and employability skills in the context of Gujarat in India. English has long been seen as a tool of empowerment and equity, and within this globalised world, it is fast becoming a necessary tool to interact with people, transact views, and create a sense of community.
We all tell stories. We tell simple stories, and we tell long stories. We tell stories to friends, classmates, parents, and acquaintances. We talk about things we have done, or repeat stories we have heard from other people. We like to tell stories, and we like to listen to stories.
