Vol. 4 Issue 52 – Seminar: A Four-Day National Seminar-Workshop on “Radical General Semantics” at JNU, Jaipur, January 16-19

Jaipur National University is organizing a Four-Day National Seminar-cum-Workshop on “Radical General Semantics” from  16 to19 January 2013  in collaboration with the ‘Balvant Parekh Centre for General Semantics & Other Human Sciences’ . The Director of this Centre ,  Prof. P.C. Kar  has recently been honoured with 2012 Nicolas Guillen Lifetime Achievement Award   The Workshop sessions will be conducted by Prof. Bruce Kodish , a renowned American scholar of Korzybskian approach to Semantics.

The Seminar-Workshop will provide a balance of theory and personal practice in the approach to understanding and improving human evaluating strategies as advocated by Alfred Korzybski.

By ‘General Semantics’ Korzybski  intended ‘general theory of evaluation’. He had also referred to it as an ‘up-to-date Epistemology’

The workshop discussions will mainly focus on

(i)        Humans  as Time-Binding Class of Life’

(ii)      Aristotlian v/s Non-Aristotlian Orientations

(iii)    What constitutes a ‘Scientific Attitude’  ?

(iv)    Non-Verbal Awareness

Vol. 4 Issue 52 – Video: Online Professional Development for English Language Teachers

We are happy to host the International Conference on Outcome Based Teaching and Learning of English in Anna University, Chennai. The effort in this conference is to grapple with the ideas and concepts underlying OBE particularly with reference to teaching and learning of English and communication skills and to come up with ideas on how to make English language learning outcome based and effective in India.
