No way sez Prof"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>If you\u2019re worried that texting and instant messaging are destroying children\u2019s respect for proper English, Kristen Turner, Ph.D., assistant professor of English education, wants you to relax.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t tell you how many times I introduce myself to parents, and the first thing I hear is, \u2018Oh, this texting language is ruining English. All my kids do is text,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s a big misperception of what\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turner has coined the phrase \u201cdigitalk\u201d to encompass communication that occurs between adolescents via modern communication technology, such as text messages, instant messages and social networking comments. \u201cPeople think that texting is random and that it\u2019s born from laziness.
