CONCEPT NOTE<\/p>\n

English Language Teaching poses many challenges to the language\u00a0teacher. The diversity of the students\u2019 socio-cultural background, motivation\u00a0and interest, multiple intelligences and learning styles, differing personalities\u00a0and behaviour patterns, makes the language teaching task a particularly\u00a0intricate one. The interests of individual learners vary: they are motivated to\u00a0learn English to meet their academic, professional or personal needs and\u00a0may want to focus exclusively on developing a proficiency in writing or a\u00a0fluency in speech. In order to meet the needs and requirements of individual\u00a0learners, language teachers need to choose between prescribed language\u00a0teaching methods and alternative methods keeping in view the wider sociocultural\u00a0context in which the instruction takes place.\u00a0In the modern technological age, the transformation in the teaching\u00a0methodology with the adoption of online teaching resources and\u00a0multimedia in the language classroom has led to the need for more careful\u00a0planning and preparation on the part of the teacher. Combined with these\u00a0are the academic guidelines which specify the expected level of language\u00a0proficiency of students after they have taken a particular English language\u00a0course, the integration of the role of English as both a social skill and as a\u00a0professional requirement, and the pressure on the learner to develop all\u00a0four language skills simultaneously. This conference aims to focus on the
\nemerging trends and methodologies in English language teaching which\u00a0can empower the language class room and enable the learner to use\u00a0English adeptly and effectively.<\/p>\n
