The century witnessed extraordinary\u00a0seminal happenings wherein life itself got redefined. Literature, which\u00a0has always been the index of various hues of life, too witnessed\u00a0watershed moments. Peter Childs in Modernism (2007) says \u201cmodes\u00a0of literary discourse blur . . . or overwrite . . . the ones before\u201d. Hence,\u00a0there is an undeniable inter-relationship between life, literature, thought\u00a0and language. The ever-changing paradigms of the global world have\u00a0given literature not only an opportunity to revisit its own theories and\u00a0practices but chartered a course for new ones to emerge. The issues<br \/>\nof society, culture, politics, gender, etc. need to be oriented and\u00a0explored with reference to the changing necessities of the society.\u00a0Moreover, the rise of a global world has made the medium of imitation\u00a0a complex phenomenon as the linguistic diversities have paved the\u00a0way for a multilingualism that co-exists with the ever-increasing\u00a0territory of a single Global Language, English, which in turn comes with\u00a0its own set of adaptations and \u201cenglishes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"releaseDateline\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hence, there is an urgent need to contemplate on the role of\u00a0literature and language in the light of the cross-cultural paradigm shifts\u00a0experienced all over the world.
