Why are these things so addictive? What makes them so irresistible?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What is Pop Culture?<\/p>\n<p>Pop Culture is defined as the set of elements and phenomena that represent the mainstream of any given culture \u2013 \u201cpop\u201d is short for \u201cpopular\u201d. Within this category, we have images, memes, videos, games and attitudes. It is often opposed to what may be called \u201chigh culture\u201d, things like literature and classical music. Pop culture is often seen as superficial and consumerist. These days, it is the main reason people waste countless hours surfing the Internet and watching videos.<\/p>\n<p>Why Use Pop Culture in the ESL Classroom?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>News flash! If you <a href=\"http:\/\/busyteacher.org\/3855-how-to-teach-using-songs.html\" target=\"_blank\">teach using songs<\/a>, you\u2019re already using pop culture in your ESL classroom. And chances are you\u2019re already using some of the other elements. But if you\u2019re not\u2026 why should you?
