Laura Sigsworth has published an article Critical Thinking: video tips to develop teens\u2019 critical thinking skills<\/em> on the Cambridge University Press blog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her post, Laura has shared video insights from three teachers on developing teens\u2019 critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laura says, “We are all aware of the importance of developing our students\u2019 critical thinking skills. With mobile phones at their fingertips (or in their pockets) they have more access to information and misinformation than ever before. In this era of \u201cfake news\u201d, our young people need to be able to separate reliable sources from unreliable ones, form their opinions and make choices with the best possible information available to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it can be tricky as a teacher to know where to start with teaching critical thinking. That\u2019s why we\u2019ve developed the Cambridge Life Competencies Framework<\/a> which breaks down the individual skills needed to think critically. The framework identifies three core areas within the area of critical thinking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) Understanding and analysing links between ideas
2) Evaluating ideas, arguments and options
3) Synthesising ideas and information”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
