The International Academic Forum in conjunction with its global partners is proud to announce the Inaugural European Conference on Technology in the Classroom, to be held from July 11-14 2013, at the Thistle Hotel, Brighton, England.

CONFERENCE THEME: “The Impact of Innovation: Technology and You”

Technology is all around us. Long gone are the days when we could just walk into a classroom with a handful of papers and a piece of chalk. Even if we are in an environment that is lacking resources, our students with mobile phones, internet café, and social networking, are exposed to technology daily. And new uses of technology are being introduced daily. These new uses show how innovation and creativity go hand-in-hand. We invite language educators, administrators, policy makers, and others to join us at ECTC 2013 as we examine technology’s impact upon our classrooms, share what innovations we are currently implementing, and look to the future imagining the role technology will play in education. The organizing committee of FAB4 invites interested teachers/researchers to submit presentation proposals for the FAB4 Conference, which will be held on July 6-7, 2013 at Nanzan University, Nagoya. How can Neuroscience, Psychology, and English Language Teaching (ELT) inform each other for the benefit of students and teachers? This question is at the core of our FAB events. We are asking teachers/researchers to connect at least two out of the three (Neuroscience, Psychology, and ELT) areas and choose the best format for their presentation. Formats are: Poster session, Pecha Kucha sessions, research-focused presentations (20 min.), and workshop-style presentations (50 min.). Featured Speakers include Marc Helgesen and Robert S. Murphy. Research Paper Abstract

The program entitled “English in Action (EIA)”, 9 year period DFID funded project in Bangladesh, was launched in 2008, for the desire to bring a change in the learning of English language. EIA works to reach a total of 25 million primary and secondary students and adult learners through communicative language learning techniques and the use of ICT, textbooks and supplementary materials in an innovative way. The project has been running, with the help of BBC World Service Trust and BBC Learning English, the program entitled “BBC Janala”, an initiative that is providing English language lessons to citizens via their mobile phones as part of the wider English in Action program in Bangladesh. Survey research found that women are particularly interested in learning by mobile (especially given its “any time, any place” nature). That means, it is absolutely being implemented as a non-formal education (NFE) under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode what is known as Open Non-formal Education (ONFE). (more…)
